Classified Moto 1982 Yamaha XS650 1

Classified Moto is a small Virginia based company owned by an advertising executive that designs custom built motorcycles as a side project. John Rylan designed this custom, starting with a 1982 Yamaha XS650 Heritage Special. After a couple of different swaps of the front end using sport bike forks, he ended up using a front end of Suzuki RMZ250 dirt bike, fitting it with awesome supermoto wheels and brakeset.

The fork internals were shortened to lower the ride, and then the rear wheel was given a powder coated black finish to match the front. Killer Woodcraft clamshell add-ons were the final touch that sets off the rugged RMZ fork tubes. The low stance, knobby tires, and perforated steel side covers gives the Classified Moto XS650 a look of “all business”.

The Classified Moto XS650 isn’t perfect, but that is part its unique appeal. A thin strip of the original cracked and weathered red paint remains on the gas tank, preserved with a high gloss sealant to leave a hint of the cycle’s impressive history. Some of the welds are messy, and a bit of rust was left in certain areas, which only gives the bike a more interesting look of menacing awe.
