The East African Safari Rally Classic is an event that has been held every two years since 2003 and was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original East African Safari Rally which first took place way back in 1953.

Held in East Africa bi-annually and kicking off from Mombasa, Kenya the rally covers over 5,000 kilometers in just 9 days over Africa’s most challenging and toughest terrains and requires drivers to navigate their way though cliffs, rocks, sand, mud, flash floods, Elephants and Donkeys! Certainly not many races or rallies these days that can boast those kind of challenges! Previous entrants include none other than Travis Pastrana and Rally legend Stig Blomqvist in a classic Ford Escort RS 1800.

The 2013 rally saw Tuthill Porsche enter 17 Porsche 911’s which took over 120 people and 18 months of preparation to get to the start line and to start the adventure of a lifetime for all of the drivers and co-drivers. 2013 saw six times Kenyan rally champion Ian Duncan win in his V8 Ford Capri.

Hopefully we will be able to bring you the full Tuthill Porsche 2013 documentary soon, but in the meantime, here is the official East African Safari Rally Classic 2011 official film.
