Often referred to as Omega ‘moonwatches’ or even ‘pre-moonwatches’, after being issued to US astronauts on the Apollo space missions, Omega have now re-introduced the Omega Speedmaster Mark II. This time though with a couple of subtle differences from the original that reached the moon’s surface with the Apollo 11 crew back in 1969.

“The new model is powered by the Co-Axial calibre 3330, a self-winding movement”

The original 1960’s Speedmaster was equipped with a hand-wound calibre 861 whereas the new model is powered by the Co-Axial calibre 3330, a self-winding movement. The monotone face is now replaced with a fluorescent orange seconds hand and minute track. The tachymeter is now illuminated from beneath by an aluminum ring filled with Super-LumiNova.

Other colorways are available like the black with green features or steel on steel also with green features but my favorite is definitely the steel with orange. Better get saving!
