Throughout Formula One’s 65 years of history, Ferrari is not just the only team that has made its mark in the sport. Williams MARTINI Racing, as we know it now, is still a highly-respected and successful entity within Formula One.

As with the majority of the top-tier teams, they’ve had their difficult times, but will look to start 2016 in the right way at the forthcoming Autosport International Show at Birmingham’s NEC.

The historic car display from this championship-winning team will feature some of the most recognizable thoroughbreds, that have won both drivers’ and constructors’ titles, with the team being formed by Sir Frank Williams and Sir Patrick Head back in 1977.

This will include the 1978 Cosworth-powered FW06. driven by Australian racing legend, Alan Jones. Nigel Mansell’s FW14B from 1992 makes its place, which saw the man called “Il Leone” take nine wins overall, and wrapping up the title with just five races to spare.

Another particular car will be there for not just a celebration of its success in the sport, but it will also celebrate two decades since Damon Hill OBE won the drivers’ championship in the Renault-powered FW18. This car is the most successful of the Grove stable, having won 12 of the 16 races on the calendar that year.

Damon, who is currently on the Sky Sports F1 broadcast team, has also been confirmed to attend the event, so it will be a welcome reunion for this awesome pairing of a man and his machine.

Juan Pablo Montoya’s Monaco GP-winning FW25 from 2003, along with the current Mercedes-Benz powered FW37 that Felipe Massa and Valterri Bottas drove this season, will also be on hand to chart the history of the team right up to the present day.

Along with this, the motorhome that accompanies the team to European schedule of the Formula One calendar, will also be a big part of the stand. I had the pleasure of being there, when the team invited the international media to its grand opening at Silverstone in 2014.

It has to be seen to be believed, and will be a welcome part of the Williams stand, which will be around part of the main stage at the Autosport Show, being the first time it has been built outside of its customary paddock surroundings.

Apart from the welcome displays to the show, attendees to the show will also be able to experience what goes on with Wiliams Advanced Engineering, the technology arm of the company, as well as Willaims Heritage, who keep all of the cars in fine fettle.

If you don’t want to miss out on this incredible display, and see it in person, you can get your tickets for the show right here.

The 2016 Autosport International Show takes place between the 14th and the 17th of January, with motorsport’s who’s who set to attend at the event that kickstarts another year of flat-out, full-throttle racing.
