Graphite Speedster by Rough Crafts
This quite wonderful piece of design and engineering is the latest project from the guys at Rough Crafts the Graphite Speedster built by Winston Yeh in Taipei, Taiwan. Not surprisingly the Speedster has just won 4th in the AMD World Championship Freestyle Class, and Best of Show in the CUSTOMBIKE SHOW in Bad, Salzuflen.
It’s difficult to start singling elements out for review or comment because quite frankly almost every aspect of this build is bad ass amazing with just so many unique and custom fabricated parts.
“Front and rear Beringer inboard brake with rear modified with a sprocket provides a vintage drum brake look.”
The frame is custom made by Rough Crafts of Billet/tubing along with the front end. The rear suspension is a Rough Crafts/Gear’s Racing in-frame shock, with the swing arm again being Rough Crafts Billet/tubing. Foot and hand controls are all custom made Rough Crafts parts, and the wheels are RSD Diesel’s with Firestone Dirt Track Ribbed tires. Winston Yeh from Rough Crafts told KOF:
“The whole bike has vintage lines but with a modern process used to build it, the look I was going for was a vintage rigid/springer bike but I made it with modern CNC billet/tubing bolted together. I designed it as a softail with an underseat rear shock and billet rear leg/tubing, front leg springer with air shocks, quick release half tanks, left for electric inspection (battery and fuse), right side for fuel.”
Even the grilled headlight and taillight are bespoke Rough Crafts, along with the seat, gas cap and grips. If these guys are not on your radar, put them there as they deserve to be with projects like this, and it’s clear to see why this is a bike is winning awards and getting a lot of attention right now.
