This is some fantastic and extremely rare onboard footage from 1967 featuring a lap of the infamous 22.8km Nurburgring, Germany shot from a Formula 1 car. It’s easy to forget that they didn’t have GoPro® back in the day, but head cams and on-board cameras the size of your average pick-up truck.

The commentary talks you through each corner as they happen and the ‘camera car’ follows German F1 driver Hubert Hahne as they expertly negotiate the seemly lethal track (once described by Sir Jackie Stewart as “The Green Hell”) with a very distinct lack of safety features and facilities.

Gentlemen racers of the 1960’s, we salute you and your bravery!
